Ice Sports and Activities

Ice skating is the self-propulsion of a person across a sheet of ice, using metal-bladed ice skates to glide on the ice surface, whilst curling requires participants to wear shoes with Velcro attached to the soles of the shoes. These activities can be carried out for various reasons, including recreation, sport, exercise and travel. This guidance includes ice skating and curling performed on specially prepared indoor ice surfaces.
