Inflatable Structures

This guidance provides an overview of the general principles for the management of inflatable
structures (including those used on water). These simple precautions can help avoid serious
incidents, whether the equipment has been purchased or hired for an event. This guidance is
applicable to all forms of recreational inflatable structures. This guidance does not consider the use
of small inflatable toys in water. This is considered within the CIMSPA Swimming Pool Equipment
guidance.

Ice Sports and Activities

Ice skating is the self-propulsion of a person across a sheet of ice, using metal-bladed ice skates to glide on the ice surface, whilst curling requires participants to wear shoes with Velcro attached to the soles of the shoes. These activities can be carried out for various reasons, including recreation, sport, exercise and travel. This guidance includes ice skating and curling performed on specially prepared indoor ice surfaces.

Football, Hockey, Rugby Netball goalpost safety (Indoor and Outdoor)

This guidance note provides an overview of the operation of goalposts. Fatal accidents have happened involving goalposts. The purpose in publishing this guide is to help prevent accidents by
outlining what needs to be done to make sure that goals are safe. When installed and used in the
right way, a goal that was built according to the correct safety instructions and maintained should not
cause any injury.

Design and Physical Environment

This guidance provides information on specific elements of the design and physical environment of
dry leisure operations. Topics covered are those that CIMSPA members have previously asked for advice on. The guidance provided is not intended to be exhaustive and will be reviewed and added to from time to time by CIMSPA

Climbing Walls

Climbing facilities are generally busiest during the winter evenings, at weekends and during bad
weather. In urban areas where natural rock-climbing facilities are not easily accessible, indoor and
outdoor walls usually prove popular throughout the year.

target, field, clout and flight. This guidance note aims to provide some key points and information
provided by GB Archery to assist operators in awareness and implementing best practice associated
with archery.
